I don’t normally send feedback on cookbooks or recipes that I try but I have to tell you that you have outdone yourselves with the Looneyspoons Collection — what a beautiful book to own, read and cook from–its incredible! If I could only own one cookbook, it would be this one. This week I made the “Thai Beau” …this recipe rivals the Thai curry dishes from most Thai restaurants. I have my colleagues at work hooked on the “Loin King”–I have been making this with pork tenderloin for years (first saw it in one of your earlier books). Your granola recipe is my new favourite and the whole wheat/flax meal pizza dough was the easiest pizza dough I have ever worked with. Caterina F.
I have been wanting to write to you to thank you for all the work you did to create such a great cookbook with loads of ideas and funny anecdotes. I’ve been a single father raising two boys on my own for several years and for the most part, if the package didn’t come with instructions, it didn’t get cooked. So many of your recipes are my favourites and by using them I have managed to take off eighty pounds since January…and the most important thing is that my attitude towards food has totally changed. We haven’t had take-out since January and cooking/baking has become such an enjoyable part of my day. I love the fact that your recipes use lots of ingredients and always turn out great . . .just as expected. I can’t say that I use LooneySpoons recipes every night but do use them for the majority of my meals. I just had to write to you both and let you know what a difference you have made in my life. I have more energy, I’m not ashamed to be seen in public because of my weight, and I feel that I am feeding my family well for the first time in years. I collect cookbooks because I love to cook and love the pictures. But I only use them for ideas. For cooking I never follow recipes. (Not going to lie….I’m a pretty good cook) ……except from your books. Seriously, I NEVER measure anything, but with yours I follow the steps exactly. I just want to say that I have never made one recipe from your books that didn’t work out/people didn’t love. Sometimes I just sit and read the Loonyspoons Collection and laugh out loud to myself. This summer I was fortunate enough to use your cookbook while working for an amazing company called Active Challenge. It is a not for profit organization where young women develop healthy habits, lose weight, and build confidence. During the six weeks the girls and the staff followed the Canadian food guide and also followed your book Looneyspoons Collection Recipe Book for all meals. The girls were so excited to pick out some meals from the book and learn how to prepare healthy meals for when they return home. The little tidbits of healthy eating on the pages also encouraged their learning and we also made a game using the information. I love to cook but do need to follow recipes so my daughter bought me your greatest hits cookbook for Christmas past. I LOVE IT! I’m trying a Julie/Julia theme and making my way thru the whole cookbook. So far I have made around 18 recipes. I loved your cookbook so much I went out and bought my daughter, her friend, my best friend and a coworker your cookbook. And just as I thought, they are all big fans of the book. It was my father-in-laws birthday last weekend and I made the Italian Dream Cake. Let’s say there were no leftovers and guests asked when they could be back for more. The Maple Roast lived up to being a fan favorite. A couple of years ago I was diagnosed with Heart Disease and it’s very important for me to follow low salt/saturated fat recipes and your cookbook does just that for me without eliminating the flavour.
